LAUTREC: Pink Garlic Celebrates 60 Years of its Label Rouge and 30 Years of its PGI
In Lautrec, in the heart of the historic Pays de Cocagne, diamonds aren't worn on fingers—they're found at the market! The pink gem, traditionally hand‑braided and cherished by top chefs, celebrates the 60th anniversary of its Label Rouge certification (1966) and the 30th anniversary of its PGI status (1996), without showing a single wrinkle.
Every year, the Pink Garlic Festival brings the medieval town to life on the first Friday and Saturday of August. Between entertainment, tastings, and competitions, visitors can discover the subtle flavours of Lautrec Pink Garlic, the first French plant product ever to receive the Label Rouge.
In 2026, these two prestigious anniversaries offer the perfect occasion to honour one of the most flavourful legends of the Tarn region.
Pink Garlic Festival of Lautrec: August 2–3, 2026
To understand the unique taste of Lautrec PGI Pink Garlic, there's nothing better than lacing up your hiking boots! It's among the rolling hills where the beautiful bulbs thrive that you truly appreciate the influence of the terroir on this ancestral product.
From the medieval village of Lautrec—listed among the “Most Beautiful Villages of France” and recognised as a “Remarkable Site of Taste”—after admiring half‑timbered houses, ramparts, and the fortified gate, head toward the windmill for a bucolic walk.
Producer farms and panoramic viewpoints over the countryside punctuate the Garlic Trail.
