Just What the Doctor Ordered: Wellness and Holistic Holidays Across Croatia

London, 02 June 2025 –  Croatia – known for its dazzling coastline, Game of Thrones backdrops and gourmet delights is now serving something altogether more soothing: a soul-nourishing escape that goes beyond the beach towel. From thalassotherapy under royal skies to forest bathing in enchanted woods, welcome to Croatia's softer side, a land of lavender, laughter and longevity.

With springtime meadows bursting with medicinal herbs, secret coves hugged by limestone cliffs, and the spellbinding Telašćica Nature Park, Dugi Otok offers a detox with a view, picture perfect for guided herbal hikes. In the same archipelago, from 11-15th June the laid-back island of Ugljan hosts Flows Festival – where melodic house meets moon salutations. House beats & healing vibes have only 400 tickets on offer to barefoot bliss-seekers, also benefitting from neighbouring Školjić island for a monkish moment at the 15th-century Franciscan monastery.

Further into the continent, just 80 km from Zagreb, lies a lesser-known paradise of wine, wellness and winding roads. Bjelovar and Bilogora region is naturally placed for cycling through sun-kissed vineyards, tucking into farm-fresh delicacies, and unwinding at Daruvar Spa, famed since Roman times. With investment underway, expanding into beer baths, cryochambers and oak therapy, this is Croatia's answer to spa strongholds across Europe.

Meanwhile, Gorski Kotar is where the trees do the talking, with plenty of forest bathing. There are also hikes through dramatic canyons, fairy-tale caves explorations, or simply marvelling into majestic Queen of the Forest – Croatia's largest fir. Ideal pairing with the botanical bliss from Lošinj to Biokovo, headlined by the Lošinj's  Garden of Fine Scents, a healing centrepiece fragrant with 250 herbs brought together in a sensory mosaic – from immortelle to aloe, all nestled above the sea. South-bound, Makarska's Kotišina Garden and Velebit Botanical Garden add to the heaven for botany nerds and slow walkers alike.

Pag's ancient olive groves also shine with 80 shades of green. Olive trees older than Shakespeare line the paths of Lun Gardens, perfect for wandering among their twisted trunks by foot or electric buggy, and sample local oils that taste like Mediterranean magic bottled.

Another giant open-air apothecary resides on the island of Cres, brimming with over 1,400 plant species. Invigorating invitation for perfumed strolls around its ancient towns, breathing in wild sage and immortelle, and recharging in a landscape that has barely changed since the Roman times.

Thalassotherapy fit for a Queen is set beside Queen's Beach. This Nin's open-air summer clinic offers healing mud baths and sea therapies that have drawn pilgrims since the 1960s. This year, marks 1,100 years since King Tomislav's coronation, regal reason to celebrate like royalty, only barefoot in the sand and covered in medicinal sludge.

In Slunj, Wellbeing on the Water  boasts free holistic workshops beside the emerald Korana River. From Qigong and yoga to forest baths and SUP, there's something for everyone. Even a jazzy evening concert will add some sax to Croatian serenity all the way to 28th June.
