The Louvre invites itself to Goya!
At a time when the Louvre is renovating its galleries devoted to Spanish and Portuguese painting, the Goya museum will be delighted to present four masterpieces from the Golden Age.
From 8 February to 21 September 2025, visitors will be able to admire a portrait by the famous El Greco, as well as a remarkable group of still lifes by the painters Meléndez, Espinosa and Gomes Figueira, as part of the museum's permanent tour, in a space that has been redesigned and staged for this unique occasion.
Since the reopening of the Musée Goya, the town of Castres has strengthened its long-standing and numerous special links with the Louvre's Department of Paintings by signing a new partnership agreement. Following the exceptional loan
of a work by Goya, Nature morte à la tête de mouton (1808-1812) for the exhibition devoted to Goya and Picasso in 2023, the Louvre is renewing its confidence in the Musée de Castres.
